The RealTrends + Tom Ferry The Thousand, prominently featured in The Wall Street Journal, is an annual national awards ranking sponsored by RealTrends and Tom Ferry International coaching. As in previous years, the methodology of the list invited submissions from past qualifiers, national real estate brands, brokerage firms ranked on the RealTrends 500 and Nation’s Best, as well as local and state Associations of Realtors®. All reported production is derived from closed residential sales in the previous calendar year, encompassing off-market listings while excluding leases or commercial sales. The sales data may encompass various markets beyond the primary office location of the agent or team. Real Trends ensured verification from an independent third party for each sales professional and team.

The Real Deal Recognized Compass As the Leading Brokerage in California’s Two Largest Metros 

Compass is honored to be named by The Real Deal as the number one brokerage by sales volume in two of the country’s most premier West Coast markets: San Francisco and Los Angeles. 

Compiled by The Real Deal’s data and research team, the list ranks Compass San Francisco as having the biggest share of San Francisco residential transactions across the county bringing in $5.8 billion in volume across more than 3,200 home sales between March 2022 and March 2023. In Los Angeles, Compass dominates the brokerage rankings with almost triple the on-market output for the county compared to the second-ranked brokerage. 

“We are able to attract the most eyeballs on our listings, share market data and resources with fellow agents and keep better tabs on the pulse of the market,” said Kevin Patsel, Compass’ regional vice president for Northern California. “Inventory is shared internally amongst agents before it hits the general market and deals are often done before a property hits the market.”

“When I started in 2017 there were 600 agents,” said Parker Beatty, Compass’ regional vice president for California and Hawaii. “Now there’s around 2,800. 

“We have an amalgamation of incredible agents. It’s not a one-person operation,” Beatty continued.
